Salons & studios

An empty chair is inventory you cannot sell twice.

Hair, barbering, nails, tattoo, massage, aesthetics. The bookings mostly work. It is the gaps, the no-shows and the phone ringing mid-appointment that cost you.

A salon does not usually have a lead problem. It has a friction problem and a gap problem, and they are different from each other.

The friction is the booking path. Somebody finds you on Instagram at eleven at night, taps through to a link tree, then to a booking page that asks them to create an account, then to a service list with thirty-one entries and no prices. Every one of those steps loses people, and none of them are steps you chose — they came with the tool. Cutting that to two taps is not a marketing project, it is a plumbing project, and it is usually the single highest-return thing on the list.

The gap is different. Your day is inventory that expires: a chair empty from two to four is revenue that cannot be recovered, ever. No-shows and late cancellations create that gap, and the fix is unglamorous — confirmations that actually land, a waitlist that gets pinged the second a slot opens, and a deposit policy the booking flow enforces so you never have to have that conversation yourself.

Then there is the phone. It rings while your hands are in somebody’s hair, and the caller is a new client who will try the next salon. Same fix as anyone else with busy hands: an instant, friendly reply that gets them booked without you putting down the shears.

Where we’d start

In this order, for this kind of business.

Ordered by what tends to pay back soonest for salons and studios — not by what is most expensive. Your plan may reorder it once we’ve looked at what you already have.

Where the social piece actually matters

Salons are one of the few industries where the feed genuinely is the shopfront — the work is visual, the results are immediate, and clients choose on portfolio. That is also why it hurts most when it goes quiet, and it goes quiet exactly when you are fully booked. The answer is not posting more; it is capturing what you already shoot between clients and having it queued weeks ahead, so a busy month looks like a busy month rather than an abandoned account.

FAQ

Salons and studios: the questions we get asked

I already use a booking system I like. Are you going to replace it?

No. If it works, we connect to it and cut the number of steps in front of it. Most salon booking software is fine at holding appointments and bad at being found — the friction is almost always in the path from Instagram or Google to the booking page, not in the software itself. Replacing a system your clients already know is disruptive and rarely necessary.

Will automated reminders annoy my regulars?

They will if you send four. The setup is deliberately quiet: one confirmation, one reminder at the interval that actually reduces no-shows for your service length, and everything stops the moment somebody replies. Your regulars are not the ones no-showing anyway — the sequences can be tuned to leave repeat clients alone entirely.

Do I really need a website if my bookings come from Instagram?

You need somewhere you own. Instagram is rented ground: reach is not yours to control and accounts get locked with no appeal. A single page with your services, your prices, your hours and a booking button is enough — and it is what Google shows when somebody searches your name, which a social profile does far less reliably.

What about reviews?

They matter more in this industry than almost any other, because a new client is choosing who touches their hair on the strength of strangers. The fix is systematic, not pushy: ask every satisfied client at the one moment they are happiest, make the link one tap, and never buy or write them. We set the ask up so it happens on its own.
